Rwanda accedes to the Apostille Convention and applies to become a Member of the HCCH
On Friday 6th October, Ambassador Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe deposited, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the instrument of accession by the Republic of Rwanda to the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (Apostille Convention).
Mr Jules Van Eijndhoven, Head of the Treaties Division in the Ministry, the letter by H.E. Vincent Biruta requested that Rwanda be proposed as a new member of the The Hague Convention for Private International Law (HCCH). The HCCH, composed of 91 members including eight (8) from Africa, is an intergovernmental organisation whose mandate is the progressive unification of the rules of private international law.
