Official visit President Kagame to the Republic of Latvia

From October 1st to 3rd, H.E. President Paul Kagame made an official visit to the Republic of Latvia, marking the first-ever visit by a Rwandan President to the Baltic States and the first official visit by an African President to Latvia.

The President of the Republic of Rwanda met with the highest officials of Latvia - President Edgars Rinkēvičs, Speaker of the Saeima Daigas Mierinas and Prime Minister Evikas Silinas.

During this visit, a memorial was inaugurated at the National Library of Latvia ("The Castle of Light") to honor the victims of the 1994 Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi. This is the first genocide memorial established in both the Baltic States and Eastern Europe.
