IBUKA in the Netherlands, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda, organised a night vigil on 2 May in remembrance of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

The evening provided a solemn moment of reflection, remembrance and unity, while also reaffirming the collective responsibility to preserve the memory of the victims and ensure that the truth of history is upheld.

Particular attention was given to the role of the youth. They were reminded of the importance of preserving memory and taking an active interest in the history of their country, as this is essential in equipping them to challenge and counter genocide denial and genocide ideology.
