Prime Minister Ngirente delivers keynote address at the Tallinn Digital Summit 2022

On Monday 10 October 2022, Prime Minister Dr. Ngirente delivered a keynote address at the annual Tallinn Digital Summit in Estonia. This year, the Summit focused on delivering trusted connectivity and trusted partnerships. The Summit was hosted by Estonia's Prime Minister Kaja Kallas with the participation of Mrs Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

Speaking at the Digital Summit, Prime Minister Ngirente said that Rwanda is a digital leader and he explained that co-operation - both between countries and between the public and private sectors - is essential to advance digital development while also protecting against cross-border security risks. 

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of broadband connectivity as countries strive to leave no one behind in an ever-increasing digital world. He noted that digital and physical infrastructure are important enablers for accessible, affordable and secure digital services.

The Premier revealed that in Rwanda over 90% of Government services are accessed online and the target is to reach 100% of all government services online by 2024. Prime Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration between countries to deter and investigate borderless cybercrimes.

He concluded by reiterating Rwanda’s commitment to addressing challenges related to the security of cross-border data sharing, safe and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence and to strengthening collaboration on digital innovation. To read more about the keynote address delivered by Prime Minister, click here.
